A Letter from the PBA Security Committee

6/20/2025

Summer is very busy in our small community. We all love Popponesset and the best part is sharing this wonderful place with family and friends. Lets all work together to have the best possible summer! Please read this letter from the PBA Security Committee:

Greetings Popponesset Friends and Neighbors,
As we prepare for the start of the summer season and the July 4th holiday weekend, please remember that for everyone to enjoy a successful, safe, and peaceful summer we all need to be responsible, considerate, and neighborly.
Our Security Team
Our Post One security team will be on duty this summer wearing white Polo shirts with their Post One logo. Ways you can assist the security team:
  • Be prepared to show your beach flag whenever requested by the guards
  • Adhere to the rules regarding not dropping off individuals at the beach from your vehicle
  • Park exclusively on your own property
  • Call a tow company if an unauthorized vehicle is parked on your property – that is your responsibility, not the Mashpee police. Notify the police if you have called for a tow, as the car operator may contact the MPD to inquire.
  • Obey speed limits
  • CALL 911 if you observe a situation that may require emergency services
  • Follow all PBA Rules & Regulations
Please note: This summer we hope to have enhanced Mashpee Police Department presence with more paid details, directed patrols and ATV Patrols. They will be here to discourage large, unruly crowds and underage drinking. If they see fit, they will tow cars, issue tickets, make arrests, and disperse unruly groups.

Preparing for July 4th
  • Should you observe any type of emergency or dangerous situation call Mashpee Police directly for the fastest available assistance.
  • Call the police whether it’s fighting, trespassing, property destruction, overly loud late-night noise, bonfires, or fireworks. Your calls are followed up on and counted.
  • Consider leaving your front and back yard lights on during nights when trespassers may run through the property
  • Lock your cars and put away all yard items, bikes, etc.
  • Please discourage your group and family members from posting on social media that this is a place to come to party or visit uninvited - Popponesset beaches are private and patrolled by police and security.
  • Instead, please spread the word about our Security measures such as police response, potential ticketing, towing, and, if warranted, possible arrests.
We expect to enjoy a peaceful summer season. Let’s tell our families, friends, and guests to remain polite and civil to our Security team and to MPD officers as they work on our behalf. Our success will depend on everyone’s commitment to considerate neighborly behavior.

Enjoy your summer!

Wine and Chocolate made a great pairing this afternoon at the Popponesset Community House. Guests brought delicious chocolate treats to share and Cape Cod Package Store of Centerville provided an interesting selection of wines.

Watch your PBA emails and check the website CALENDAR for more "Second Season" events for PBA members at the House. Thank you to everyone who came, brought sweets to share, hung out to meet  with neighbors and enjoy our House, and stayed to clean up!

Our next event will be Game Night on Wednesday, February 28 at 7pm. Bring your team and join us for Shuffleboard and Corn Hole - we know there are some expert contenders in Poppy - Let's see what you've got!

Popponesset Cookout - Goodbye to Summer 2023!

9/4/2023

We had perfect weather and a great turnout on Saturday night September 2nd for our first PBA End of Summer Cookout since before Covid. Thank you to the many eager volunteers who showed up to make the night a success. It still feels like summer, but soon things will revert to the quieter off-season as we move into Fall. Thanks everyone for another great summer of Poppy memories!
