POPPONESSET BEACH ASSOCIATION FLAGS
As a reminder, all homeowners within the designated boundaries of the Popponesset Beach Association are considered PBA members, and have deeded beach rights to the Popponesset Beaches. PBA Beaches are Private, and only Home Owners in Popponesset (and their guests) have access to Popponesset Beaches.
Beach flags are a way to conveniently and easily signal that Popponesset Home Owners have rights to our beaches so that security patrols and others on the beach can immediately identify your right to be there. In the past 5+ summers, we have experienced year over year increases in the number of reports of drop-offs and/or parked cars in back roads of our community loaded with people using our beaches that don’t have deeded rights. We have also experienced an increase in Non-Poppy residents asking to buy a membership to PBA and pay large sums to become members, which is a signal to us that our beaches are sought after by others. Please note that we have had increased security over the years to address this. PBA came up with the flag system and the use of security as a way to protect your rights to the beach. PBA is sending flags this summer to PBA members in good standing (those who have paid their full dues/fees/charges and assessments). For more information on your flag, reach out to Kelly Spinard, Treasurer, or Joe Parlavecchio, Assistant Treasurer, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you see people who you know don’t belong, feel free to mention it to a security team member. They will be walking the beach more regularly this summer. Our security company this year is Amity Security.
