Popponesset Beach Association Rules and Regulations

  1. Beach flags are to be used for identification at all times when using Popponesset Beaches. No photocopies or pictures permitted. See: Beach Access/Flags
  2. No drop-offs at beaches at any time.
  3. Swim at your own risk. There are no lifeguards on Popponesset beaches.
  4. No alcoholic beverages, no smoking or vaping are allowed on the beaches at any time.
  5. Remove your trash from the beaches. Barrels at beach entrances are to be used for beach trash only.
  6. Beach curfew: There is a 10:00 PM noise curfew on Popponesset beaches, and curfew at dusk at the Spit. Violators will be removed by Security and Mashpee police. See:
  7. Overnight sleeping is not allowed on the beaches. $50.00 fine per Town of Mashpee.
  8. Storage on the beach: Storage of furniture, inflatables, kayaks, catamarans, paddle-boards or personal belongings is not permitted on Popponesset beaches. Sunfish may be stored against the walls, by PBA homeowners only, but may not be tied or locked to PBA stairs. Sailboat Registration: please complete a registration form for sailboats stored on the beach: Sailboat Form.
  9. Kites and ball playing on the beaches is allowed after 5:00 PM. No drone flying, fires, cooking or camping are allowed on the beach at any time.
  10. No motor vehicles allowed on beaches.
  11. Boats: Motorboats and water skiers must operate at a safe distance, minimum of 150 feet from the shoreline. Motorboats cannot be launched from bathing beaches. See: Boats on the Beach
  12. Dogs/Pets: Dogs and pets are not allowed on the beach at any time of the year, leashed or unleashed, per Town of Mashpee law. Report any violations to the Mashpee Animal Control Officer at 508-539-1442. See: Dogs Restrictions
  13. No on-street parking in Popponesset. Homeowners may park at their own property only, provided a current PBA Parking Sticker is displayed on the car, and two wheels are on the lawn to allow emergency vehicles to pass. On-street parking is prohibited on Shore Drive. Unauthorized vehicles will be subject to towing at vehicle owner's expense. See: Parking and Towing
  14. Bikes, roller-blades, etc: All riders should wear helmets when using bikes, roller-blades, etc. Remind children to stop at STOP signs and intersections. Pedestrians/Drivers please drive with caution.
  15. Saltwater fishing: MA permitted fishermen only, may park at the Fishermens Landing lot between 5:00 AM and 9:30 PM. Parking is limited to 6 cars and a MA Fishing Permit must be displayed on the vehicle. Between the hours of 9:30 PM and 5:00 AM, parking for Fishermens Landing may be made available at the Community House, with a PBA Parking Permit. See: Fishermens Landing parking.
  16. Noise curfew: There is a 10:00 PM noise curfew in Popponesset.
  17. Construction: PBA requests construction work start no earlier than 7:30 AM and end no later than 6:00 PM.
  18. Vista Pruning: Please be advised that vista pruning on property bordering wetlands requires the prior approval of the Mashpee Conservation Commission and the PBA. It is the property owner's responsibility to determine boundary lines and gain appropriate approvals before proceeding with any work on property abutting roads or PBA property. See: Vista Pruning
