Save the Bay
Fishing the channel off the Spit
Save Popponesset Bay (SPB) owns two thirds of the land on the western portion of the Spit. The State of Massachusetts owns the section immediately at the bottom of the Fishermens Landing stairs. The eastern third is owned by Mass Audubon and the entire Spit is home to endangered plovers and terns.
SPB has undertaken a variety of important initiatives to protect and preserve the Spit and to keep the waterways in and around Popponesset safe and navigable. Homeowners and guests can support preservation of the Spit by supporting the efforts of Save Popponesset Bay.

Please stay off the dunes
We would like to request that if you are walking on the Spit, PLEASE KEEP OFF THE DUNES! Audubon has alerted us that people have been climbing on the dunes.
During these difficult days it is so nice to see our community walking the Spit and enjoying its beauty. Please remember that we all need to be practicing social distancing as we don't want authorities to close the Spit down due to violations.
Again, we hope you are all safe and staying healthy.
