Safety & Etiquette on the Roads

Safety is primary for everyone in Popponesset - Pedestrians, Cars & Wheeled Vehicles
Remember, we all share the roads with cars, pedestrians, carriages, beach carts, kids, bikes, scooters, and pets! The streets are narrow, they are very busy in Spring, summer and Fall and there are blind corners.
Pedestrians
Pedestrians, please walk on the left facing traffic and step to the side to allow cars to safely pass. Please don’t walk on the road with a group two or more abreast and force cars to drive onto the wrong side of the road.
Please drive with caution and follow all rules of the road and speed limits of 15 MPH
Drivers
Please drive with caution and follow all rules of the road and speed limits of 15 MPH. All motorized vehicles including golf carts must be licensed and "street legal."

Please teach your children the rules of bike safety and etiquette.
Bicycles & Other Wheels
All bike riders, including riders of electric or battery operated bikes or scooters should wear helmets and reflective gear whether riding in daylight, dawn, dusk or dark. Bikes should travel on the right with traffic, obey safety rules and use hand signals. Parents, please teach your children the rules of bike safety and etiquette.
