Popponesset Beaches extend roughly one mile southwest from Wading Place Road to Sandy Beach. Beaches are commonly identified by their access roads, e.g. Elliot Beach, Clover Beach, Squaws, etc. The Popponesset Beach Association (PBA) maintains the beaches and the jetties that separate each beach from the next. Wilson's Grove and Overlook Knoll are independently owned and are not part of the PBA. Sandy Beach is at the southwestern end of Popponesset Beach, across from Dean Pond, and although PBA members with beach flags have rights to use the beach at Sandy, it is owned by New Seabury.
...dogs are not allowed on PBA beaches at any time of year, whether on a leash or off
Popponesset Beach Association members are those who are homeowners within the bounds of Popponesset. The beaches are owned in common by the members of PBA who have exclusive deeded rights to use the beach. We do not sell memberships or beach passes to those outside of Popponesset. By majority vote of PBA members, dogs are not allowed on PBA beaches at any time of year, whether on a leash or off - please respect your neighbors and leave your pets at home.

Access to PBA beaches normally is by walking in only. Driving in or dropping off people at the beach from a car is not allowed. However, disabled or elderly residents and their guests (with beach flags) may be dropped off at any beach. We have installed boardwalks at Bluff Ave, Kim Path and Squaws Lane to provide increased accessibility to the beaches for those with physical needs and limitations.
