Requirements for Events and Gatherings

Picture
Popponesset beaches are private and are owned in common by the members of PBA who have exclusive deeded rights to use the beach. Any organized gathering on the beach such as a wedding, graduation or party, must be conducted with respect and consideration for the rights of all stakeholders who may want to use the beach for their chosen activities such as bathing, playing, resting, walking or sitting in contemplation.

No organized events or gatherings can be held on the beaches on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday from June 15 to September 10th.
Any  Popponesset homeowner planning to host an activity or event for more than 20 people for anything other than normal beach use, must submit a written request to PBA at least 2 weeks in advance of the event. Requests must be made by a homeowner and may not be made by a renter. No organized events or gatherings can be held on the beaches on a Saturday, Sunday or Holiday from June 15 to September 10th.

All usual beach rules apply: no furniture on the beach, no catering on the beach, no alcohol, no fires or loud music is allowed at any time, etc. You are responsible for clean-up after the event. The event may not impede normal use of the beach by any other legitimate stakeholder. You may not block off any part of the beach or beach access point.
