No Dogs Are allowed on PBA Beaches
A friendly reminder that, for everyone's health and welfare, dogs are not allowed on Popponesset or Town of Mashpee beaches. PBA members by majority vote have affirmed that dogs are not allowed on the beaches at anytime of the year, whether leashed or unleashed. Please respect your neighbors and leave your pets at home. Offenders can be fined $50 by Mashpee Animal Control. To report animals on the Beach call Mashpee Animal Control: 508-539-1442
Dogs on The Spit
The Popponesset Spit is an endangered species preserve and and a barrier beach and is owned and regulated by the Mass Audubon Society and the Save the Bay organization. Dogs are not permitted on the Spit during breeding season, usually from May 1st through September 1st, or when restrictions are posted. The mere presence of dogs anywhere on the Spit during breeding season, whether they are leashed or not, prevents nesting and breeding. Please follow this regulation as failure to comply can allow these regulating agencies to take away everyone's permissions to have access to the Spit!
Please Keep Off the Dunes!
The plantings on the dunes at the Spit help to maintain the barrier beach and prevent beach erosion. We request that if you are walking on the Spit at any time of the year, or have your dog at the Spit, be a good neighbor and PLEASE KEEP OFF THE DUNES!
