Vista Pruning
The Mashpee Conservation Commission regulates pruning of vegetation near any water body including Dean Pond and the Ocean.
PBA Notice to Homeowners:
The Popponesset Beach Association owns a buffer zone around a large proportion of Dean Pond. Recently there has been some unauthorized vista pruning and snow fence installations on PBA property. This is a reminder to all homeowners that approval is required by Mashpee Conservation Commission for all vista pruning or any work, such as trimming and/or removal of any plantings along Dean Pond or the ocean) within 50 feet of a water body or vegetated wetland, and within 100 feet of a wetland resource including coastal and inland banks. Once you have met with approval from Mashpee Conservation Commission, then contact the PBA board for approval prior to trimming along the pond or ocean.
Homeowners are responsible for landscapers who perform the work, so please also make them aware of the rules and regulations on your behalf. Violation of the rules by a homeowner or their agent(s) may result in fines and mitigation at owner's expense.
